Alongside Secretary of War Henry L. Stimson, General George Marshall planned the largest military expansion in U.S. history. The Marshall Plan, or European Recovery Program, was created to aid in the reconstruction of Europe after World War II. The plan provided billions of dollars in aid to European countries, and helped to rebuild their economies and infrastructure.
