Was George Thomson the first physicist to study the wave properties of electrons?

  • Yes

  • No

Answer

George Paget Thomson was the first physicist to study the wave properties of electrons. In 1927, he and his father, J.J. Thomson, conducted the famous "electron diffraction" experiment, in which they passed a beam of electrons through a thin metal foil and observed the interference patterns that resulted. This experiment provided the first direct evidence that electrons have wave-like properties, and helped to establish the wave-particle duality of matter.
