George Pickett graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. He served in the United States Army from 1842 to 1865, during which time he fought in the Mexican-American War and the American Civil War. He is best known for his leadership of Confederate forces at the Battle of Gettysburg, where he led the infamous "Pickett's Charge".
