George Reid served as Premier of New South Wales for five years, from 1894 to 1899. He was a member of the Free Trade Party, and his premiership was marked by a number of reforms, including the introduction of free trade and the establishment of a state bank. However, his government was also plagued by financial problems, and he was eventually forced to resign.
