George Washington Bridges was a Civil War leader. He was born in 1819 in Massachusetts. He served in the Union Army and fought in many battles, including the Battle of Gettysburg. He was promoted to the rank of major general in 1865. After the war, he served as a state senator in Massachusetts. He died in 1885.
