Answer
In 1927, Gerald Gardner joined the Rosicrucian Order Crotona Fellowship, a spiritualist group in New Forest, Hampshire, England. He had already been a member of the Order of the Golden Dawn since 1921, but he was dissatisfied with their lack of ritual. The Rosicrucian Order Crotona Fellowship was more interested in ritual, and Gardner was drawn to their emphasis on nature and the importance of the Goddess.
