Ferraro served three terms in the House of Representatives, from 1979 to 1985. She was the first woman to represent New York's 9th congressional district and the first Italian-American woman elected to Congress. During her tenure, she served on the House Banking, Finance, and Urban Affairs Committee and the House Small Business Committee.
