G.H. Hardy was an English mathematician, who was also known for his mentorship of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Ramanujan was a self-taught mathematician who had little formal education, but he was able to make several important contributions to mathematics. Hardy was initially skeptical of Ramanujan's abilities, but he was eventually convinced of his genius and the two men worked together for many years.
