Answer
Giovanni was also known for natural philosophy, or what we would now call science. He was particularly interested in the relationship between nature and mathematics, and wrote several books on the subject. In his book On the Natural History of Places, he discusses the different ways in which nature can be divided into different categories, such as the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water.
