Gojong of Korea was born on 25 July 1852. He was the 26th king of the Joseon dynasty of Korea. He reigned from 1863 to 1907, and his reign was marked by the decline of the Joseon dynasty and the increasing influence of the Japanese Empire. Gojong was forced to abdicate in 1907 and died in exile in 1919.
