Gough Whitlam held a number of positions throughout his career, including Prime Minister of Australia from 1972 to 1975. At the end of his career, he served as a Member of the UNESCO Executive Board from 1993 to 1997. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing the implementation of UNESCO's policies and programs, and for representing the organization at international forums.
