Empress Alexandra, the wife of Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, was the mother of Grand Duchess Anastasia. She was born in Hesse-Darmstadt, Germany, and was related to the British Royal Family. Alexandra was a devoted and loving mother, and was tragically executed along with the rest of the Romanov family during the Bolshevik Revolution in 1918.
