Maria Alexandrovna spent her early years of marriage in England, as her husband was the Duke of Kent and Strathearn, the fourth son of George III. The couple married in 1818, and lived in Kensington Palace in London. They had one child, Princess Victoria, who was born in 1819. In 1820, George III died and his son, George IV, became king.
