Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich's reign as Konstantin I, Emperor of Russia, lasted a mere 25 days. He abdicated on December 25, 1825, after a brief interregnum following his brother Tsar Alexander I's death, due to a succession crisis resulting from his morganatic marriage and the Decembrist revolt. His younger brother Nicholas I succeeded him.
