Grant Shapps was first elected to the House of Commons in the 2005 General Election. He was the Conservative Party candidate for the Welwyn Hatfield constituency in Hertfordshire, and won with a majority of 15,823 votes. He has held the seat ever since, and is currently the Secretary of State for Transport.
