Grant Shapps was Home Secretary during the last days of Liz Truss's premiership. He had previously been Secretary of State for Transport, but was moved to the Home Office in January 2023 after Truss became Prime Minister. He was responsible for a number of policy areas, including immigration, policing, and counter-terrorism. He also oversaw the implementation of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022.
