British-American actor Greer Garson was born in England but later became a naturalized American citizen. She began her acting career in England, but her breakthrough role came in the 1939 American film "Goodbye, Mr. Chips." Garson went on to star in numerous Hollywood films, winning an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1942 for her performance in "Mrs. Miniver." She continued to act until her retirement in the early 1960s.
