Cristoforo Boncompagni was the father of Pope Gregory XIII. Pope Gregory XIII, born Ugo Boncompagni, was the 226th pope of the Catholic Church, serving from 1572 to 1585. He is best known for implementing the Gregorian calendar, which is still used today.
