Guillaume Du Fay worked as a subdeacon at the Cambrai Cathedral, where he was appointed in 1404. He was responsible for singing the chants and hymns during the services, as well as for helping to maintain the cathedral's music library. Du Fay also wrote several pieces of music during his time at Cambrai, including a Mass for the Feast of Corpus Christi.
