Guy Burgess, born in 1911, was a notorious British double agent who provided classified information to the Soviet Union during the Cold War. Recruited while at Cambridge University, he later joined the British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) but continued passing secrets to the Soviets along with fellow spy Donald Maclean. Burgess eventually defected to the Soviet Union in 1951, where he spent the rest of his life.
