Hans Frank's reign in Poland ended in early 1945 when his regime collapsed. He had been the General Governor of occupied Poland since 1939 and had been responsible for the deaths of millions of Polish Jews and other civilians. Frank was captured by the Americans in 1945 and was sentenced to death at the Nuremberg Trials. He was executed in 1946.
