Hans-Joachim Marseille was 23 years old when he died. He was a German fighter pilot who was credited with 158 aerial victories during World War II. He was known as the "Star of Africa" because of his success in the North African Campaign. Marseille was killed in a mid-air collision on 30 September 1942.
