Grave Circle A was discovered by Heinrich Schliemann at Mycenae. It is a burial site containing six shaft graves, each containing multiple bodies and rich grave goods. Schliemann believed that he had found the graves of Agamemnon and other heroes from Homer's Iliad, but subsequent research has shown that the graves are actually older, dating to the 16th century BCE.
