H. Elsie Austin was a Baháʼí, a member of a religious movement founded by Baháʼu'lláh in the 19th century. The Baháʼí Faith is based on the principle of the unity of God and the unity of all religions. Austin was a prominent figure in the Baháʼí community in Canada and was a member of the first Baháʼí Spiritual Assembly of Canada, which was elected in 1948.
