Helle Thorning-Schmidt served as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for five years. She was elected in 2004 and served until 2009. During her time as an MEP, she was a member of the Socialist Group and served on the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs and the Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality.
