Moltke died in 1891. He was a Prussian field marshal and military strategist who served as Chief of the General Staff of the Prussian Army from 1857 to 1888. Moltke is considered one of the greatest military commanders in history. He played a key role in the Prussian victories in the Austro-Prussian War of 1866 and the Franco-Prussian War of 1870–71.
