Henry Allingham had five children. He was married twice, first to Dorothy Cater in 1916, with whom he had four children, and then to Dorothy White in 1978. Allingham was the last surviving British veteran of the First World War and the oldest man in the United Kingdom at the time of his death in 2009, aged 113.
