Henry III of Germany (1017–1056) was the son of Conrad II and Gisela of Swabia. Conrad II was the first of the Salian dynasty, which ruled Germany from 1024 to 1125. Gisela was the daughter of Herman II, Duke of Swabia. Henry III was born in Goslar, Saxony, and succeeded his father as King of Germany in 1039. He was also crowned Holy Roman Emperor in 1046.
