Edward IV first deposed Henry VI, the king of England, in 1461. He was a member of the House of York and had a claim to the throne. Henry VI was a member of the House of Lancaster and had been king since 1422. Edward IV was able to defeat Henry VI and become king in part because he had the support of the Duke of Warwick.
