Upon the death of Charles VI of France in 1422, his son Henry VI of England became King of France and King of England. However, the English were unable to take control of all of France, and the French crown was claimed by Charles VII, the son of Charles VI's younger brother. Charles VII was eventually crowned King of France in 1429.
