Answer
Democritus was a Greek philosopher born in Abdera, Thrace in the 5th century BC. He was known as "the laughing philosopher" because of his cheerful disposition. He believed that the universe was made up of tiny, indivisible particles called atoms, which were in constant motion. These atoms could combine to form different objects, but they could never be destroyed.
