Herbert Lawrence retired from the Army in 1928 with the rank of General. He was born in 1873 and joined the Army in 1892. He served in the Boer War and World War I. He was awarded the Victoria Cross for his actions in the Boer War. He was also awarded the Distinguished Service Order and the Order of the Bath. He died in 1942.
