In 1907, Hjalmar Branting became the leader of the SAP. Branting was a Swedish Social Democratic politician and a leading figure in the early development of the Social Democratic movement. He was a member of the Riksdag from 1887 to 1925, and served as the Prime Minister of Sweden from 1917 to 1918 and from 1921 to 1923.
