Answer
Hedwig Eva Maria Kiesler, known professionally as Hedy Lamarr, was an Austrian-American actress and inventor. Born in Vienna in 1914, she was a rising star in the German film industry when she married the munitions magnate Friedrich Mandl in 1933. Mandl was an avid collector of weapons and munitions, and he kept Hedy under virtual house arrest, forbidding her from seeing films or socializing with other men.
