Horace Ward Martin Tavares Silver was an American jazz pianist, composer and bandleader. He was born in Norwalk, Connecticut on September 2, 1928 and died in New Rochelle, New York on June 10, 2014. Silver is best known for his work in the hard bop genre, and his compositions include "The Preacher", "Song for My Father", "Nica's Dream", "Cape Verdean Blues", and "Senor Blues".
