Answer
Laughing gas, also called nitrous oxide, is a colorless, non-flammable gas that has a sweet, slightly pungent odor. It was discovered by the English chemist Joseph Priestley in 1772. In 1799, the English chemist Humphry Davy experimented with the gas and observed its anesthetic and euphoric effects, nicknaming it "laughing gas" due to the uncontrollable laughter it often induced in his subjects.
