Childhood leukaemia is a cause close to Ian Botham's heart. In 1986, his son Liam was diagnosed with the disease. Liam underwent successful treatment and is now a healthy adult. Botham has since dedicated himself to raising awareness and funds for childhood leukaemia research and support. He is the patron of the charity Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research and has helped to raise millions of pounds for the organisation.
