Ian Khama was the fourth President of Botswana from 2008 to 2018. He was born in 1953 to the first President of Botswana, Sir Seretse Khama, and Ruth Williams Khama. He attended school in Botswana and South Africa, and then served in the Botswana Defense Force. In 1998, he was appointed Vice President of Botswana, and in 2008 he succeeded his father as President. He was re-elected in 2014.
