Imad Mughniyeh was reportedly the Chief of Staff of Hezbollah, a Shia Islamist political party and militant group based in Lebanon. He is considered one of the most important figures in Hezbollah's history and has been accused of orchestrating numerous terrorist attacks, including the 1983 bombing of the U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut, which killed 241 U.S. servicemen. Mughniyeh was killed in a car bombing in Damascus, Syria, in 2008.
