Fikru Tefera scored the first goal in the history of the Indian Super League (ISL) on 12 October 2014. Tefera played for Kerala Blasters FC, who were hosting Chennaiyin FC in the inaugural match of the league. Tefera scored the winning goal in the 88th minute to give Kerala a 1–0 victory. The match was played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi, Kerala.
