Isabella of France became a regent in England in 1327, following the death of her husband Edward II. Isabella had been married to Edward II since 1308, and they had two sons together, Edward and Edmund. Edward II was a weak and unpopular king, and he was eventually deposed by his wife and her lover, Roger Mortimer, in 1327.
