Ivan Sutherland was born in the United States on May 1, 1938. He is an American computer scientist and professor emeritus at the University of Utah. He is best known for his work on computer graphics, and in particular for his invention of the Sketchpad, the first computer program that allowed users to create and manipulate graphical images. Sutherland is also credited with coining the term "computer graphics."
