Before becoming a psychoanalyst, Jacques Lacan studied psychiatry. He was born in 1901 and studied medicine at the University of Paris. After graduating, he worked as a psychiatrist at the Sainte-Anne Hospital. In 1932, he began training in psychoanalysis with Sigmund Freud. Lacan became a leading figure in the psychoanalytic movement and developed his own theories about psychoanalysis.
