Jamaal Bowman was born and raised in Yonkers, New York. He attended the Bronx High School of Science, and graduated from Yale University with a degree in political science. After college, he worked as a community organizer in the Bronx, and later served as an aide to U.S. Senator Charles Schumer. In 2020, Bowman was elected to the United States House of Representatives, representing New York's 16th congressional district.
