Who succeeded James II as King of Scots?

  • James I

  • Edward I

  • James III

  • Robert II

Answer

James VII, also known as James II of England and Ireland, was succeeded by his daughter, Mary II, and her husband, William III, in the joint monarchy of England, Scotland, and Ireland, following the Glorious Revolution of 1688–89. In Scotland, however, a significant portion of the nobility and people refused to recognize their claim, instead supporting James's infant son, James Francis Edward Stuart, as James VIII of Scotland.
