James Ward-Prowse first represented England at international level in 2012. He was called up to the under-19 team for the 2012 UEFA European Under-19 Championship. He made his debut in the opening game of the tournament, a 2-0 win over the Czech Republic. He went on to make two more appearances in the tournament, as England reached the semi-finals.
