Jan Tinbergen was born on April 12, 1903. He was a Dutch economist who, along with Ragnar Frisch, is considered to be one of the founders of econometrics. Tinbergen developed methods for constructing econometric models and for using them to analyze economic data. He also made significant contributions to the field of development economics. In 1969, he was awarded the first Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, jointly with Frisch.
