  • A CGS unit of electrical current

  • A mineral

  • A type of rock

  • A species of bird

Answer

A biot is a CGS unit of electrical current. It is named after André-Marie Ampère, who proposed its definition in 1820. One biot is equal to the current that, when flowing through two infinitely long, straight, parallel conductors of negligible cross section, separated by one meter, produces a force of two dynes per centimeter of length.
