How did Bokassa ultimately lose power?

  • He was overthrown in a coup

  • He resigned

  • He died in office

  • He was voted out

Answer

Bokassa was ultimately overthrown in a coup d'etat in 1979. The coup was led by David Dacko, who had been president of the Central African Republic before Bokassa took power. Dacko and his supporters were able to take control of the capital, Bangui, and Bokassa was forced to flee the country. He eventually died in exile in the Ivory Coast in 1996.
