Answer
The Encyclopédie was a French encyclopedia produced between 1751 and 1772. It was the first modern encyclopedia, and was written by a team of over 150 contributors, including Denis Diderot, Jean le Rond d'Alembert, and Voltaire. D'Alembert was the co-editor of the Encyclopédie, and he was responsible for the mathematical and scientific articles. He also wrote the Discours préliminaire, which was the preface to the Encyclopédie.
